Back in the day: Digital Underground's don gave Tupac Shakur his first gig
Back to the future: Humpty Returns

On the set of the "I Get Around" video, 'Pac told me his thing was, "All I ever wanted to do is be in a movie and make an album. And I've done that. I don't give a fuck. If I die today, I die happy." And [on September 7, 1996,] he went out probably just like he would've wanted if he could've chose his death. Vegas. Big Beemer. Rims. Suge Knight. Gunfire. Last time I saw him he was in a droptop Rolls, rolling down Sunset Boulevard. East Coast-time Rolex on one hand, West Coast-time Rolex on the other.

When Afeni had his memorial, was about thirty people there. We brought gifts for 'Pac to Malibu beach…had some drums playing. People spoke on 'Pac's behalf. All of his family and close friends were there. We brought all the shit he liked: fried chicken, hot wings, bottle of Hennessy, jewelry, his favorite photographs, his favorite books, and a couple of fat blunts. After we threw his ashes in the ocean, we threw all the gifts out there with 'em. It was phat. And one of the things Afeni said was, "Don't worry about 'Pac, he's all right. We miss him, but he's all right. He did what he had to do." Some things burn with a blue flame, real slow, all day. Some things burn with a white flame and burn out like that [snaps fingers]. In his twenty-five years, 'Pac put it down and did more than most men will do in a lifetime.
