I've written a book titled: Living Well with Hypothyroidism
What Your Doctor Doesn't Tell You . . . That You Need to Know , which is being published by
Avon Books' new WholeHealth line, early in 2000. My book will be the first in-the-trenches book about hypothyroidism, written by a patient, with practical help on every facet of hypothyroidism, including alternative medicine approaches, depression, fertility, pregnancy, weight loss, and even special | | chapters on hypothyroidism in infants and children, and hypothyroidism after thyroid cancer surgery. The book also offers a comprehensive "Resource Guide" featuring hundreds of books, websites, organizations, support groups, and people who can help you live well. If you'd like advance notification regarding when the book is available for purchase, please send me an email!
In the meantime, I'd suggest you get a copy of another book that can be of some help, especially if you need "medically-approved" ammunition to get your doctor to treat a TSH over 2 as hypothyroid, or to add T3 drugs to your thyroid hormone regimen. The Thyroid Solution: A Mind-Body Program for Beating Depression and Regaining Your Emotional and Physical Health , by Ridha Arem, M.D., is an endocrinologist-written book that should get some doctors to stand up and listen. Read a complete review, or Buy Arem's book now. |

Two Thyroid Hormones Better Than One! T3 Drugs
Found to Improve Quality of Life - Synthroid-Only May Be a Thing of the Past!!!
The February 11, 1999 issue of the New England Journal of Medicine
reports on
the results of research that found that "treatment with thyroxine plus triiodothyronine improved
the quality of life for most [hypothyroid] patients." This study has major implications for people
who don't feel well on their current thyroid hormone replacement. For a complete review of the
research, with implications, and info on how to get a copy, see
Research Finds Most
Patients Feel Better with Addition of T3, Not Levothyroxine (i.e., Synthroid) Alone!!!
Untreated Hypothyroidism in Pregnancy Can Lower Children's I.Q.s Significantly
Thursday, August 19, 1999, the New England Journal of Medicine published a report showing that hypothyroidism during pregnancy, when not treated, can significantly impact a child's I.Q., to the extent that women with untreated hypothyroidism are FOUR times more likely to have children with lower I.Q. scores. Read about this startling new finding, and find links to the New England Journal stories and other news coverage of this groundbreaking report in my article at my website.
