Internet in Chad
Chad has full Internet service via France that was established by the Ministere des Postes et Telecommunications (ONPT) in 1997. The telephone system in Chad is extremely overburdened and poorly developed. This Internet ISP is used mainly for governmental or scientific purposes but it is rumoured that there is a FidoNet node in Chad (I could not confirm this). One man fought to raise technological advancement in Chad: M. Baba Malla, the director and SDNP project manager. He successfully campaigned for increased technological awareness in the senior levels of the government and the President of Chad has now developed an active interest in cultivating Internet technology in his country. Email is currently the only dial-up service provided by the ISP and it cost 20 USD per month plus the cost of a local call, .18 USD per minute.
