Ohhhhhh boy. Wow.
Great collection of stories. The opening piece, "A Perfect day for bananafish" shocked me and... I don't even know how to describe the emotion. It just hit me in such a powerful way.
Blah blah, writing is good, grammar great, all that bunk just needs to be accepted.
On to topics and stories.
Again, these are kind of 'driving by' stories where Salinger peeks in the window of someone's life, then moves on (with a few exceptions). The final story, "Teddy," I had read a few years back, but I have a greater appreciation for it now that I've aged and I know a bit more about the world and what it's like to live in it.
And of course, "Bananafish" is marvelous. Go buy the book today, if only to read that first story. Seriously.
