USS Excalibur
Ship Name: U.S.S. Excalibur
Class: Excelsior Class
Registry: NCC-2004
Mission: Exploration
Commissioned: 2370
Commanded by: Admiral Daniel Blasberg
Current whereabouts: UNKNOWN
This ship, first under the command of Commodore Walter George, was the first ship to encounter the Vendoth menace circa 2293. This ship had many glorious missions, and was finally retired, but not decomissioned, to Federation station Memory Alpha. George made rank later to Admiral, but died not soon after. Every year after the retirment, the remaining crew would return to Memory Alpha to take command of the Excalibur and do a one parsec trip out and back -- thus retaining the oldest active ship status in Starfleet history. In 2376, the Excalibur was on its yearly trip when the Vendoth Invasion began. Now under the command of the ships original first officer, Admiral Daniel C Blasberg, the ship returned to Earth and took part in the battle for Earth. Nearing the end of the battle, the crew was beamed off by Blasberg, who then rammed the ship into the Vendoth Command Ship. The resulting explosion has caused many to assume that the Excalibur, along with Blasberg was destroyed. However, some speculate that the ship may still be intact, but was actually thrown back into the Kalium Galaxy, the origination of the Vendoth race.
