The Freedom class is a fairly old class of vessel, but has not been adequately represented in recent history. Ships of this class have been serving in Starfleet service as far back as the Cardassian-Federation War. More recently, a great number of them have been lost in conflicts related to the Dominion War. Where they boast of their small size, they have an equal disadvantage of being slow and harder to maneuver. Several of these ships were lost in the Borg invasion at Wold 359.
