The Death's Head Regiment of Ostermark

by Anvar

The Old World is a dangerous place, where tragedy can strike without warning. The irregular incursions of chaos and the ravages of Orc warbands can leave whole lives wrecked in their wake. Their are many who have lost all their family to the foes of the Empire, and there are many different responses to this. Some people go mad and such unfortunates sometimes become flagellants or commit suicide. Others try to get revenge by seeking out and killing whoever was responsible. But others still respond to such tragedy by trying to prevent such a disaster from befalling anyone ever again. The Death's Head Regiment of Ostermark is entirely made up of such people.

The Regiment was formed by a group of soldiers who had lost their whole families in an Orc raid on their homes. They moved to Ostermark, as it is likely to come under attack from the forces of Chaos, and set up the regiment. Anyone who has lost their family may join the regiment, where they are given the training they need to survive in battle. Whenever anyone threatens Ostermark, the Death's Head Regiment will always be at the frontline of the battle, fearlessly fighting any who dare oppose them.

The people who recover from their terrible tragedies often turn to Morr. For he offers those that die a good afterlife for the bereaved's murdered family. Not surprisingly then, the Death's Head Regiment's primary deity is Morr, the god of death.

The Death's Head Regiment dress in black and red uniforms as a sign of mourning for the dead, and of the blood that has already been shed. Their shields bear a skull representing their loved ones who are no longer with them and for whom they fight. They fight with a hand gun and spear; these are paid for and maintained by the pay the regiment gets from Ostermark. The Death's Head Regiment only take as much money as they need to survive and to fight.
