As cigar smokers, we here at CIGARLAND enjoy fine cigars and would like to enjoy them at our own convenience. But many of us face a big problem. That is; How do we keep cigars fresh at home if we can't afford a good quality humidor. Without one we are required to drive to the nearest cigar store daily through traffic while restraining our urge to partake of a fresh stogie. Our HOT TIP cures that drastic problem! Follow these 3 easy steps.
Step 1. Obtain a cedar box. This can be done cheaply at a local cigar shop. Most good quality cigars come in cedar boxes. Ask the owner of the store for an empty box. They will usually be free in most cases, or sold at a low price of a dollar or two. Tall and wide is the more ideal way to go, and it should have inner edges so that when the lid closes, it gets an air tight seal.
Step 2. You will need a source of moisture. A sponge is a good source of moisture that can hold water without having to worry about spilling water in your cigar box. Distilled water must be used. Tap water has chemicals in it that can cause fungus to grow on the cigars, and ruin them, and cause you health problems.
Step 3. A container will be needed to hold the sponge. An empty 35mm film canister is a good size, that will fit into your cigar box. Drill small holes in the top of the lid to allow moisture to escape into the cedar box.
We at CIGARLAND have had good results with this method in keeping cigars fresh for weeks. The moisture levels achieved were measured from 70 -80%. (70-72%) is ideal. The level of humidity can be adjusted by changing the amount of holes in the canister allowing moisture out. The only setback of any humidor is that the container should be checked and refilled with distilled water every several days. If you would like to obtain detailed plans of a blue printed system that continuously keeps your cigars fresh, similar to the above plan theres a $1.99 charge. I accept PayPal. Thank you & good luck.
