Stephen Dredge |
Jesus the Nazarene |
This is his second year of involvement in the Turramurra
Passion, having played Nicodemus in 2003. Has enjoyed acting from an early age, being
involved in school musicals from Years 6 to Year 11, then (a number of years later) with
T.H.E Theatre Company in Jesus Christ Superstar, Joseph and his Technicolour Dreamcoat and
The Wiz. Married with 3 and a bit children, Stephen lives at Quakers Hill and enjoys
spending time with his boys, and reading sci-fi and drama novels (when he has time). |

Has read the guide part since 1999. Beth has made a significant
contribution to the development of the script. |
Duncan McLean |
Peter |
2004 will be Duncan's third Passion Play, his second in the
role of Peter. At 18 years of age Duncan has completed his HSC with Drama
being his strongest subject (his group performance was nominated for the HSC Drama
Showcase: OnStage) and is now studying Visual Production at Macquarie University. He
has completed short courses at NIDA in both acting and play building, and has been heavily
involved in recent years as a writer and producer of Turramurra Uniting Church's
children's Christmas play. |
Matt Johnson |
Andrew |
Matt is studying drama and some other subjects in Year 12
at Barker College. Matt is returning for his second year as the disciple
Andrew. Enjoys strolls on the beach, sunsets and helping sick animals, and in his
spare time he ever so enjoys being a computer nerd. Matt owns an Xbox and a P-Plate, and
enjoys most kinds of music (except Country, Western and Rap). For those who know Matt
well, this play is probably the place where you hear him say more words than youve
heard him say in your life! |

Joined the cast in 2002, and moved to play John in 2003 |
Geoff Hill |
Judas |
Geoff has played Judas since 2000. Geoff is an only child and
recently got engaged to the lovely Deb. Work/Study: Store Manager of Rivers Chatswood
Chase as well as Area Administrator NSW North. Drama Experience: Will be my 5th year in
the passion play as Judas, but was part of the lighting crew for Barker College Theatre
Company for 6 years and head of the crew for 3 years. Did work experience at the
Zenith Theatre in Chatswood, which included running the lighting board for several
productions. Hobbies: Hitting a very small ball, into a hole, only twice the size of the
ball, along way away, otherwise known as Golf, and also cooking. Interests: Lead a youth
group 'OKs' at Turramurra Uniting Church for boys year 7 and above, with an annual Easter
camp to Cranbury, near Orange. |
Jon Fowler |
James |
Jon makes his stage debut in the newly created role of James.
Outside acting, most of Jon's spare time is spent with his young family of three children
and wife Lara. He manages a company involved in technical training and consultancy
in the IT and Telecommunications industry. Swimming, soccer, or any sport that comes
along are also happy distractions. |
Mal Day |
Pilate |
No one ever told him The Turramurra Passion was a ten year
gig! After five years playing the lead role of Jesus, Mal will take on a very
different role this year, as Pilate. Mal has always loved acting, starting in
school, and brief works with Sydney Gilbert and Sullivan and Film. Mal loves
bringing plays and particularly The Passion to life, taking the words from
off the page and seeing them take flight.
Mal starred in Flashback in 1996. Mal has made a significant contribution in
the development of the script, and in the stage design.
Mal is married to Melissa and has three small children. He keeps them all
fed by working out his days with a little cleaning company |
David Rush |
Caiaphas |
David made his stage debut at age 10 in a play in which he
drew immediate attention from the audience with the word "myrrh" delivered 50
decibels louder than the other actors. Attended the same school as TV personality Peter
Stirling, but preferred golf to football. During school years had roles in Oliver, Sound
of Music, Annie get your Gun and Godspell.
At university was involved in organizing, writing, and performing College concerts, the
highlight of which was always an adapted version of a popular Broadway musical. Qualified
as an actuary in his spare time.
Has since reinvented more authoritative roles such as Lord High Executioner, Lord
Mountarrarnt, First Lord of the Admiralty and Lord High Everything Else. During the day
works for a financial services regulator.
Is therefore well suited to the ceremonial, legalistic role of the High Priest, performing
this for the second year. Despite appearances, is actually quite likeable, with a wife and
two children. |
Vern Harvey |
Nicodemus |
Played Pilate 2001-2003, moves to Nicodemus in 2004. Father of
four, grandfather of three. Business experience gave Vern public experience, but the
Turramurra Passion has given him performance experience - and even better for something so
worthwhile |
Kate Dudley |
Mary of Bethany |
Has been in the cast since 2002, moves to Mary of Bethany for 2004.
Currently in Year 12 at Galston High, Kate has been studying Drama at school since Year 8,
taking part in a variety of school productions. She has also been involved in the
Sydney North Drama Festival in 2002 and 2003. She has played a large role in writing
the Christmas Eve children's play at Turramurra Uniting Church for the past four
years. Kate intends to pursue a career in the dramatic field, leaning towards stage
production and directing. |
Stan Brataniec |
Gamaliel |
Stan played this role for half of the 2002 season, and rejoins the cast
for 2004. He is married to Elizabeth, an dhas two daughters. Involved in the
Finance Industry for over 40 years, and a financial adviser for 17 years.
Previous drama experience were in primary school (Waltzing Matilda) and High School
(Shylock in Merchant of Venice). A member of the Koi Society of Australia, with
about 26 coloured fish in the pond.
Enjoys walking the dog, driving the car, gardening, being involved with the church Flea
Market and going on holidays with the family. |

Toshi Takeshima |
Security Thug #2 |
Toshi has been involved in many of the youth programs and
events run by Turramurra Uniting Church in production and technical support. This is
Toshis second year in the cast, again appearing as a thug.
Toshi enjoys watching sport any kind will do and listening to "No Use
for a Name" and "Linken Park". A born and bred Turramurra boy, Toshi is
very much looking forward to this years production and the chance to help people live the
story. |

Kate, Widow, Farmer, Mary Magdalene |
Tracey is in Year 11, and has been studying drama since Year 9.
Hobbies include netball, hockey, softball, water polo and watching television.
Currently attending Barker, and involved in Cadets - where playing night soccer without
lights but with night vision cameras is a highlight. |
Chris Bolton |

Chris has played a collection of parts in the Play since
2001. Started drama in year 5 (1994). Entered the metropolitan
Drama festival with St Ives north primary school (1994). Did theatre sports as a
winter sport at Shore school for 3 years (1999 - 2001), and sat HSC drama (2001).
Volunteer at Genesian theatre for 1 year (2002 - 2003). Drama team for National
Christian Youth Convention in Newcastle (2003).
Chris' hobbies include: various involvement at Turramurra Uniting Church,
computers / Surfing the Internet, playing Guitar, theatre / Drama, cricket,
Basketball, motor sport, all sorts of music, watching DVDs. |
Kristy Johnson |
Ex-Leper, Tony, Salome, Cleopas, Newsreader |
Has been in the play since 2000. Kristy has always enjoyed singing.
Now, at age 20, Kristy os in her third year of a Bachelor of Creative Arts degree
(Macquarie Uni), and a part of three bands. She played Francis Flute in A Midsummer
Night;s Dream (Ravenswood 1998), has performed in HMAS Pinafore (Barker 1999), The
Merchant of Venice (Barker 2000) and If This (NY Productions, 2004) |
Bruce Grime |
Zaccheus, Joseph of Arimethea, Jack |
Has played Gamaliel for 2 years, moves to a new group of roles, including
Zaccheus, for 2004. Bruce is an independent IT Consultant in Corporate Governance
and HR products and services, and is married with three grown up children and 2
grandchildren. He has been in plays and musicals since age 5 in school, church and
amateur dramatic companies. His hobbies include golf, running, cycling, swimming and
occasional mental challenges. |

Dave Cornford |
Dave wrote the Turramurra Passion in 1999, and has directed each
year. He was part of the writing team for Flashback (1996), and played Pilate in
2003, due to a family illness of a cast member.
Dave is a keen musician, writer, renovator, reader,videographer, net surfer and cook.
Has post graduate qualifications in actuarial science and theology.
He is married with three children, works part time as a marketing strategist in the
financial services industry, and is working on writing a children's book with his sister,
an artist/illustrator. |
