Welcome to third issue of our e-magazine.
Recently there was a news item* about an erstwhile Indian Air Force personnel who lost control over all his limbs below neck at the age of 24, twenty six years back. He can see hear speak and eat like any normal person, but has to be helped in every other activity right from brushing his teeth. Medically his condition is known as paraplegic.
Undaunted by his handicap, Mr.N. Ilangovan, decided to make use of his lips to sustain his creative instincts. In four years he learnt to paint, holding the brush between his lips. Today he can paint on canvas variety of landscapes, flowers and even human characters.
He along with Hariram Kholi, another handicapped, have displayed their works in many exhibitions organized in Bombay, Pune and Aurangabad
He is one of the seven hundred members of AFMPA (Association for Mouth and Foot Painting) having headquarters at Liechtenstein, an independent state within Switzerland. AFMPA has accepted some of his creations for reproduction and sale as a mean of support to their members.
We salute this great man's indomitable will to achieve. Also to those who are behind his achievement to spread the hope for disabled and for being a source of inspiration to ordinary mortals like us.
