KINGFISHER
Can we call
a female, a king ? May sound odd if you put this question
without context.
Though this little bird is a female we call it as a King Fisher.
Wonder how I say it as a female? Here is the secret. Only the
female kingfisher has a red patch below the beak.
Have you heard of the phrases like 'halcyon days of youth'
for carefree joyful youths or 'halcyon weather' for a calm
tranquil weather or 'halcyon year' for a prosperous year ?
The term halcyon refer to a family of Kingfisher said to
magically calm the waves of the sea when it nested on the
surface of the sea.
A water color painting (more than a decade old) on a post card somehow
survived to see the web era
RAMANA the Saint of south India :
The world runs after the one who has wealth and
power.
Those who have them run after the one who has
knowledge. Not the worldly knowledge but of the Supreme.
But those who have it sit in some obscure corner
striving
for the ultimate truth. It needs another soul of
similar
quest to identify the greatness of the former and bring it to
notice of the world. A British, Paul Brunton, travelled
several thousand miles across the sea and again several
thousand miles with in India by rail and road with the
above quest. He found his abode finally
at the feet of the Maharishi Ramana in the dusty small
town of Tiruvannamalai, in south
India. This is already a seventy year old
story! If you can get hold of the travelogue of
Mr. Brunton never miss it.
Pencil sketch of the saint is attempted here.
