A couple of nights ago, I had a dream. There was a tree
of Universal proportions and around its base were clustered many smaller, actually tiny, trees that were the very image of
itself.
This morning, during my walking meditation, the meaning
of that dream was made clear me. Actually it has at least two meanings that I will share here. (The onion of meaning~~and
of scripture~~has many layers).
Of course, the large tree symbolizes All That Is, the Source
from which we have all emanated. It is the Tree of Life that is both Within and Without. We are of this Tree. It is our Divine
Parent. The tiny trees at its base represent the family of man.
Originally branches of the tree, we began to think of ourselves
as separate and distinct from our parent and from one another. These thoughts in themselves constricted us at our foundation,
compromising our connection to the trunk, cutting off our source of nourishment to some degree.
Stunted by our thoughts of separation, and strangulated
by thoughts and choices, we fell. And we took root in the foreign soil of materialism. And though we still maintain the image
of the parent~~ and its life force yet sustains us~~we have forgotten who we are.
Some of us are huddled confusedly together under the branches
of the Tree of Life. Others argue violently and kill and maim. Some of us tend toward self-destruction. Yet others look up
and inward to their core and begin to glow with the life force of the parent. They begin to aspire to being grafted again
upon The Parent.
They bravely take a quantum leap in Spririt and find themselves,
though still among their brethren in the material world, to be, amazingly, still attached to the parent, as they had been
all along. Hooked up again to their true Source of sustenance, they begin to glow radiantly and to joyously pour out the love
of the parent to their siblings.
This heartens the sibling trees who also begin to look
upward and inward. Soon all the branches are grafted again onto the tree and Eden is regained. The material realm is
spiritualized, raised up a notch in vibration, returned to its former nature, and the Paradise of God-Man is regained.
New Heaven, New Earth..
