Welcome. This is the portfolio of the collected in progress works of James Chin. His chosen topic and area of interest is the Urban Los Angeles. This year he is a graduate student at the California State University at Los Angeles Department of Geography and Urban Analysis. His thesis study topic will be on various geographic aspects and demographic variables related to the City of Los Angeles Police Department jurisdictions. The image below is an outline map of City of Los Angeles divided into LAPD patrol station geographic areas. This is the current division of the City of Los Angeles as seen by LAPD, effective in 1995. The various other Historic Los Angeles Police Divisions maps will be linked as free time become available for their inclusion. They are for reference purposes only. The base line of the thesis is the City as proportioned in 1990, the last U.S. Census year. That base map, and the separate station maps in effect for that time period will be linked as they are developed and uploaded. As the thesis work is complied and completed, the material will be posted online to this web site for his instructors review and comments (i.e., grades). You, the web browser, the casual but interested reader, can follow along also, and please feel free to send your comments and suggestions to the author at jchin@calstatela.edu.
