Vicommi@aol.com "Ancient History." -Sailor Charon Hello again! It has been a while since I added to this story, but I am back into the string of the plot and (more importantly) I have no homework for a while! School is tough!! Well, anyways, all standard disclaimers do apply for this story, and I really do LOVE to get comments (good or bad) about anything. I did create these characters from my own little imagination-the functional part after three math assignments-and would greatly appreciate it if you would tell me before using them or reference to my ideas. Thank you so very, very much to Lianne, who is always full of terrific story ideas and nice things to say. READ all of Lianne's stories! Well, here is the belated chapter one of Ancient History! ^_^ (*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*) Chapter 1: Queen Serenity of the Moon Kingdom was elegant in every respect. She stood tall and beautiful with silver fine hair pooling on the marble tiles. She always had an aura of grace and dignity about her that clothed her like a shawl. That was, she always did except when she was with the princesses. "Jessica, where are you? Oh, there you are! Come on, let's go. Oh, come here! Well, if that is the way you wish to play . . ." Serenity made three impressively quick strides across the silver marble tiles of the palace hall and scooped up the playful two-year-old companion of her daughter. "Valorie, I see you behind that curtain, come here! See girls, at least Mercitia is quiet and *still* as I asked! That is much better." The queen sighed with relief as the four future gardians calmed down and stood next to Princess Mercitia of Mercury to await what was to come next. Two-year-olds, no matter what their station, were always full of energy. The four were an impressive sight, even at their young age. Princess Mercitia stood calm and tranquil among her figity friends, Princess Jessica was showing just how well she met her home planet's stormy personality, jumping around like a lightning bolt on Jupiter. Princess Valorie stood still, but with a huge smile on her face that only one of great inner beauty could manage, golden hair still tousiled from the static on the curtain. Princess Marissa stood quietly, but there was no sence of tranquillity in her smouldering gaze. Queen Serenity sighed again. "Where is Serenity?" The girls in front of her shuffled on their feet and gave quiet 'idunno's. Just then, a curtain from a window across the hall whirled back, creating a slight breeze around it as the most energetic of all the princesses stood there wearing only a bright smile and standing on her disgarded dress. The servants nearby muffled chuckles at the sight. Queen Serenity walked regally over to her young daughter, and dispite hysterical protests, pulled the Princess's dress back on and straightened the young girl's ponytails. About fifteen minutes later, after a lot of struggling, the Queen of the powerfull Moon Kingdom and the five princess of the Moon, Mercury, Mars, Venus, and Jupiter teleported to the Earth. On the Earth: The five young girls stood in awe at the sight around them. They had teleported into the Royal Gardens of Earth. There were flowers of every color present, and everything was framed in green. On the moon, the gardens were beautiful to behold, but all of the flowers were silver, gold, or pink. The rich reds and blues and so much green astounded the young princesses who had never seen anything similar. The sun was just beginning to rise, and drops of gold glinted off the dew drops on everything. The royal party stood totally still and quiet as the beauty set in. Then they heard foot steps and turned to see four people walking toward them. The king of Earth, Locutai, was of medium height and had brown wavy hair. He stood confident, and almost topling over with the straightness to which he held his posture. Queen Terra walked more reservedly, but with a grace that could have been compared to Queen Serenity's. The most stunning feature about her was her hair, flowing down to her knee length, it was the most soft, black, and beautiful hair known to exist in any of the Sol kingdoms. Her hair shimmered saphire in the dawning sunlight. In front of the king and queen walked two young boys. The taller, older by far, had brown hair much like his father's and an easy going expression. The smallest boy looked very much like his mother with the same midnight silky hair and sharp sapirre eyes. Queen Serenity walked foward. "King Locutai, Queen Terra, I am very grateful for your gracious invitation to come to your kingdom. I am also very glad to meet Princes Epsilon and Endymion again, and I am sure the senshi and my daughter are exited as well." The five young girls blushed deeply and then went over to the two young boys. Princess Serenity was the first to speak. "What is that?" Everyone looked to where she was pointing and saw a hint of red beneath Endymions vest. The prince pulled it out to reveal a rose. He proffered the flower to Princess Serenity. "A red rose, Princess. A lot of them grow around here. I really like them and always keep one with me." The princess of the moon took the gift and giggled. She obviously loved the flower, and all of the adults smiled gently as she put it into her hair. The seven children immediatly became friendly, wandering off away from the adults and talking about all kinds of things, from roses to the trials of being proper in court. The rulers of the two most powerful kingdoms in the galaxy simply watched amusedly as the children went off by themselves into the secure gardens of Earth. They then began to speak about business. "Thank you for coming, Queen Serenity. Epsilon has been eagerly awaiting a chance to meet the Princess Serenity." Locutai smiled warmly and gestured to the retreting pack of youngsters. "They do seem to be gething along together thus far." "Yes," Serenity replied. I had forgotten how old Epsilon was getting. Eight years difference between him and Serena. It is not too much however, this has been planned for quite some time." Indeed it had been decided years before that a wedding between the heirs of Earth and the moon would strengthen the weak bonds that held the kingdoms together. Set weddings were common among the rulers of the Silver Millenium and it was hoped that this one would be the catalyst that was needed to regain trust between the Sol kingdoms. "I have been wondering however, what if they do not wish to marry? I know that duty is very important and it should be obeyed, but Epsilon really does not seem enthusiastic about marrying someone who *he* hasn't chosen." Queen Terra looked down. She regretted contradicting the agreement because she knew how important it was, but she also wanted her son to be pleased with the match. Queen Serenity nodded understandingly. She understood, and had some of the same feelings. She was about to reply when a huge explosion rocked the ground where they were standing. A dark plume of smoke billowed into the clear sky to sygnify where the explosion had taken place. It was in the direction that the children had gone. The four senshi screamed as another loud boom rocked the world around them. The two Earth princes were attempting to regain their footing, but then Darien noticed that Princess Serena-as she had asked to be called-was not in sight. He ran off in the direction he believed she had gone, Eppie running right behind him. "Where is she?" the two looked around frantically for the small form of the moon princess, but could find no sign. The sky had turned black with the smoke, throwing all of the children into a sudden darkness as black as midnight, but the fire by the palace wall illuminated some of the outlines of objects and people. Darien found Serena huddling on the ground and began running back towards Eppie when another crack resounded around them. Princess Serena fell to the ground again, but as Darien bent down to help her, a large piece of metal flew from the blast sight to strike him on the side of the face. Darien fell, and Eppie, seeing what had happened, ran screaming across the mere five feet that separated him from the younger prince. Five feet that seemed like an eternity, until Eppie fell to his knees, crying and holding Darien, staining his vest with his tears. Smoke filled the garden. Noise was everywhere, screaming, crying shouting, calling and the inexorable explosions. Sight was very low, and all of the princesses cowered in the dark they were so unacustomed to. Heat permeated everything, the whole world seemed aflame . . . and in the middle of the chaos, a young, terrified boy held and rocked his still brother. Please, please, please write me comments, praise, hate mail, or (hope, hope) critizism that could help me make this better! Thank you so very, very much for reading this! -Sailor Charon-
