Ranks and the Point System
POSTING
There are two types of posts, and in-depth post and a filler post.
An in-depth post should be more than several paragraphs, spanning a few hours of time on the ship. It should be well written with thought and purpose.
A Filler post consists of a few paragraphs, just a quickly written post to talk about the day, a dinner date, an episode in the gym, small problem in your line of expertise. Anything you want.
POINT SYSTEM
Upon your character reaching one of the following point totals, your
character will be reviewed by the Admin Staff and your character's Department Head, and
may be promoted. Marines and Officer Exchange Program participants will advance in rank as
to their equivalents (i.e.: Marine 2nd Lieutenant = Ensign, etc.). Civilians receive Bars
of Gold-pressed latinum (as a way to measure posting experience), but do not gain any
ranks. If the civilian later joins Starfleet or some other Sovereign Power's military, the
GPL will be converted to points by the Administrative staff.

Progress Reports
Every 1-2 weeks we will publish a progress report that will let you
know what your point totals are for the time period of the report. These reports will show
everyone who is on probation, who is about to be removed, who is Missing in Action (MIA),
total number of posts written during the report period (including JP's you've participated
in), how many points you've earned during that period, how many points you've earned in
total towards your next promotion, as well as the total number of points that you still
need before you can gain your next promotion.
The format will follow these guidelines (NOTE: The following graph is an example ONLY):
Name | Current Rank | Total Posts this Cycle | Points Earned this Week |
Total Points Earned | Points to Next Advancement |
Marcus Shepherd | Commodore | 2 | 20 | 3521 | N/A |
MlTorca | Low Colonel | 1 | 10 | 2010 | --- |
Harry Stoner | Commander | 1 | 5 | 2005 | --- |
Taktu Fa'alamanu | Commander | 2 | 20 | 2020 | --- |
Reily Flannigan | Major | 0 | 3 | 1703 | 2000 |
Saladin Bolivar | Brevet Major | 1 | 10 | 1110 | 1700 |
You get the idea. An email will be sent out every 1-2 weeks, and, will also include any awards earned, plus characters who are on probation, and characters that are about to be suspended from the Tomar, along with names of those who are about to be put on probation.
This new system will help to replace performing a monthly/bi-monthly audit/census. Instead, players will be able to follow along with their status, and be able to make their own decisions about participation, or their lack there of, and they'll know what the consequences are as well.
To view the Point Totals for the most recent posting cycle, go to the Points Pages.

possible subplot ideas and the guidelines of how you want it run (i.e. security will save
the day, or two NPC's will die from your virus), please be considerate in your plans for
other characters (remember you are NOT God) Each submission will be read and accepted/not

Characters:
If you help to recruit new players, points can be earned for that, and also for creating
permanent NPCs. A permanent NPC is one that is able to be interacted with by all
characters on the ship, and should also have a vital function. Just so you know, the Tomar
has a up-to-date manifest of all members of the crew, PC and NPC (Manifest). Please check the list
BEFORE creating any new NPC's, so that positions do not become overly redundant. Creation
of multiple permanent NPC's just to earn points will NOT be tolerated, and players found
to be in violation will be dealt with accordingly, as determined by the Tomar's Administrative Staff.

Consequences
With every system of rewards also comes consequences.
Failure to meet the posting requirements or other duties for your level of play can incur the following consequences:
If you are MIA (without permission from the GM or AGM's) you will be deducted 1 point for each day after the minimum required time of posting (i.e. After one week for an Ensign). EVERY effort will be made to get in contact with you, including an Email a day from the GM and AGM's, as well as IM's, or other form of Instant Messaging.
Along with losing a point a day after missing your minimum required time to post, you will be placed on Warning of Probation status. You need to meet the requirements of your level of play for the next posting cycle to get back to Normal status. After two missed posting cycles (including the first one you missed), you will be placed on Probation.
If you are placed on probation, you need to contact the GM or an AGM ASAP, and inform them why you missed your posting requirements, or weren't able to perform the other duties of your level of play. Along with contacting a member of the Admin Staff, you need to write at least the minimum amount of posts required for your level of play, along with performance of your other duties for the next two (2) posting cycles MINIMUM! Depending on your reason(s), you may be returned to Normal status at this point.
Players who aren't able to complete the requirements of probation within the 2 cycles of posting will be placed on Warning of Removal status. At this point, you have one last cycle to post to the list and/or complete other duties of your level of play. Failure to post during this cycle will result in removal of your email from the mailing list, and possible reporting to Bravo Fleet office of JAG, who may take additional actions at their discretion.
Once you have been removed from the list, you will not be eligible to return to the Tomar SIMM as a player for a month for your first offense, 2 months for the second offense, and permanently for your third offense. If you are removed from the Simm, you WILL be reported to Bravo Fleet JAG Office, no matter which offense. Also, just because you are eligible to return to the Simm does not automatically mean that you will be allowed to return to the Tomar. The Administrators will privately discuss whether or not any player should be allowed to return, and will discuss any issues with the player in question if needed.
When you have been removed from play, you character becomes a Partial Player Character for the duration of the current episode. This means that your character shouldn't be killed (but could be, depending on the episode), and will be treated like an NPC in most aspects. At the end of the episode during which your character was suspended, the character will become a Non-Player Character (NPC) who can be killed if necessary, and all current players will be allowed to use the new NPC. Also, once your character becomes an NPC, the position that was occupied by your character becomes available, whether he was a Crewman in the Engineering Department or the department head of the Temporal Affairs Department with the rank of Commander.
If you are allowed to return to the Simm after you have been removed, and you were on MIA status, when you return, your character will start at their point total level when they were removed from the Simm.
Lastly, please remember to check the following web site: Point Totals by Posting Cycle to keep track of where you stand at the end of every cycle.
