Why Do I Do This? My interest is really in old cookbooks. There's something about holding a cookbook printed in 1849 that I get a charge out of. A cookbook can provide a connection with an individual or community that may no longer exist. 'Without documentation there is no history', I'm interested in history, cookbooks provide documentation for me.

How I Got Here
Growing up on a dairy farm there was always a sturdy, well- worn Betty Crocker, Farm Journal recipes and women's magazines full of ideas. Later, cooking in restaurants for a living meant pouring over glossy copies of Gourmet and searching bookstores for the newest cookbooks by Waters, Heatter, Purdy, and Buscalia among others. Today, I look back, way back, to cookbooks that came before food proccessors, microwaves or even refrigerators.
