MAKE-UP ASSIGNMENT

Choose one and present it to class the following week. All responses should be typed.

Write a commercial about prejudice and/or diversity.

Select video or writing excerpts that examplify at least two interactional speaking goals to share with class colleagues. Be prepared to explain your reasoning.

Tell a story about someone who you consider to be a hero/heroine.

Write a movie review as if you are a movie critic for the Albuquerque Journal.

Write a book reveiw as if you are a book critic for the New York Times.

Write a comic strip scenario.

Present a solution to what you see as a major concern/problem globally, nationally, locally, or personally.

Write a letter to the editor of a newspaper. You choose which one.

Write a letter to someone whom you've wanted to say something to for a long time now.

You are an inventor. Name, describe, and explain what your latest invention does and its importance to people/society.

You have decided to join the presidential campaign. Explain your campaign platform.

You have decided to run for in the next Navajo elections. Explain your campaign issues.

You are giving a talk about creativity and problem-solving. You want to model creative behavior, so you tell the audience that you are going to name the many, different, and unusual uses of a house brick (other than its intended purpose).

Tell a childhood remembrance.

Talk about someone who or a place which, or an event that made a major difference in your life.

Present a speech for a particular purpose for a civic, religious, professional occasion. The speech presentation must be tape recorded or videotaped.

Write new (original) lyrics to Happy Birthday.

Write your own poetry and/or music lyrics.

Write a pro and con argument about a topic of meaning to you.

Choose a children's book and describe its significance to you.

Memorize and share one of your favorite poems.

Attend a public speaking presentation (storytelling, theater, poetry reading, music, etc.) and report on it.

Write a biography of a historical figure/character.

Write a valedictorian speech for your college graduation.

If you wrote a book, what would it be.

Write about an experience that changed your life.

Your choice of topic (must be approved by instructor).
