Youth for Christ Scotland Origins

The founder of this site, that's me (John Matsui) was first inspired to create such an organization during his two trips to Scotland as a Boy Scout in the Santa Clara County Council, in 1996 and 1998.  Let me give you a quick intro about myself.  I am a Japanese-American Christian Eagle Scout living in California.  As far as I know, I am not particularly Scottish by blood (to my great regret), but I feel quite Scottish at heart.

25th Blair Atholl International Patrol Jamborette

Summary of the 25th Jamborette (the 50th Anniversary of the Event, which has been ocurring every two years since 1946)

The reason for my two month-long trips were the 25th and 26th Blair Atholl International Jamborettes.  To any scouts between 13 and 16 years of age (male or female) I strongly recommend this event (which occurs about the last week of July every two years).  It is basically a ten-day World Jamboree (only smaller) with Scouts from all over the world (Japan, Mongolia, U.S.A., Scotland [Och ay the noo, we host the event!], Africa, Iceland, even Sweden [!]) - and is a totally coed event (for the American Boy Scouts this is paradise!  After ten of the most fun-filled days of your life, you go home for up to a week with a Scottish Scout you have befriended at the jamborette as his (or her) guest.

In fact, you can just see the back of my head on the right hand edge of the top right picture of this ad (I was waiting in line to "buy" some teriyaki from the Japanese scouts with my friend and Patrol Leader Bill Murray).

Many thanks to Bob Mcintyre for the great pictures.
