On Back To The Future, Doc Brown went to test his time machine in a parking lot. His friend Marty came along.
Marty was kind of a loser because that's how he was brought up; his dad was kind of a loser, too. So then Libyans shoot Doc
Brown and Marty used the time machine to escape back to 1955...only Marty doesn't have enough plutonium to power the time
machine to get back to 1985, so he hangs out a while, changes his parents' lives so that they're not losers anymore, warns
the 1955 Doc Brown about the Libyans and rigs the time machine to get struck by lightning and send him home to 1985.
Everything works out great for Marty McFly.

Except let me tell you what happened to Marty McFly.

See, Marty influenced George McFly to be ambitious and take chances and do what he wants to do. George and Lorraine got
married and taught their kids to be ambitious and take chances and do what they want to do. They were all winners and go-getters
and Marty had a new truck at the end of the movie. And it was all thanks to a pep talk he gave his dad back in 1955.

But that's not all he did. Marty by just being there changed Doc Brown's life. Doc Brown knew a lot about the future
and, specifically, what was going to happen the night he first tested the time machine: That he would get shot by Libyans,
and that he would not have enough plutonium in the trunk to send Marty back to 1985 when he accidentally used the time machine.

You see, this time around, nothing ever really went wrong for Marty. His parents were rich and influential, he had a
new truck and a pretty girlfriend. Its a wonder that this Marty McFly even hangs out with Doc Brown at all. But he does, and
we know he does because we see him for like .002 seconds at the end of the movie when Loser Marty gets to the parking lot
too late to stop Doc Brown from getting shot.

This time, though, Doc Brown doesn't die. He has a bulletproof vest. He also put enough extra plutonium in the trunk
of his car so that Marty wouldn't get stuck in 1955 this time around.

And so, Rich Winner Marty goes back to 1955 and this time his trip lasts like 5 minutes. He just loads the plutonium
into the time machine and goes right back to 1985.

                                    Good going.

So he doesn't give his teenage father the pep talk he needed. He doesn't meet Doc Brown in 1955 and
warn him about the future. George McFly gets hit by Lorraine's dad's car and his life progresses normally, always getting
beat up by Biff and becoming a total loser.

And this time, when Marty gets back to 1985, Doc Brown is dead. His parents are poor. His dad's a loser. This Marty's
story wouldn't make much of a movie, I think: It would only be 10 minutes long and you wouldn't even be able to figure out
what happened because the only guy who could have explained it is dead at the end of the movie.

It would suck to be Marty McFly. Sure, he got a Delorean out of the deal, and it even had a working time machine in it,
but no plutonium. He just wound up a poor loser.
