Accomplishments while contracted to SKF (05/2000 thru 11/2001)
Mainframe Systems
Provided 24x7 mainframe support for three SKF companies
Administered all aspects of SKF mainframe environment, including hardware; software; DASD; security; communications; online systems; IMS and DB2 database environments; printing subsystems; operating environments
Created and documented IVP jobs and procedures for all mainframe software to be used during product upgrades
Performed feasibility studies of CPU and DASD upgrades and presented results to SKF management
Implemented and documented IBM and OEM software cloning process to allow rapid delivery of upgrades and enhancements to production LPARS
Standardized catalog structure, aliases, volume layouts and sub-system names to allow simplified systems management
Implemented IBM Websphere and HTML servers for evaluation by development team
Instituted TMM (Tape Mount Management) using SMS constructs and existing hardware to reduce physical tape usage
Initiated and documented dynamic IOGEN process using HCD to allow hardware to be installed without disruption of service
Installed and customized MQ/Series to communicate with AS/400 and Win/NT servers
Customized OSA (Open System Adapter) communication hardware and trained Network Services personnel on supporting software
Upgraded OS/390 from release 2.4 to release 2.9 on three production LPAR’s
Identified, evaluated and documented all MVS exits running on SKF LPARS
Database Administration
Implemented recurring operational utilities such as reorgs and runstats to ensure efficient use of resources in multiple DB2 instances
Maintained ISPF interfaces to DB2 functions such as SPUFI, compiles and 3rd party products
Upgraded 3rd party DB2 products to coincide with OS/390 maintenance releases
Monitored DB2 performance using TMON/DB2
Maintained several IDMS instances for SKF's aerospace subsidiary
Security Administration
Restructured RACF database hierarchy and implemented security profiles for three production LPARS in response to external audit
Designed and implemented daily / weekly security reporting using RACFRW
Setup USS and FTP security during installation of OS/390 2.9
Implemented RACF exits to support 3rd party products and updates to the base code
Designed ISPF dialog to assist helpdesk in User ID maintenance
Performance Tuning/Capacity Planning
Initiated extensive tuning of DB/2 and IMS database sub-systems
Designed PRSM LPAR structure for efficient use of processor resources
Performed capacity studies of CPU and DASD upgrades and presented results to SKF management
Disaster Recovery
Designed and implemented backup and recovery of mainframe LPARS
