1996 Edinburgh Military Tattoo (August 1996) - attached to the 2nd Battalion, The Royal Canadian Regiment Pipes and Drums under PM/ MWO Ian Ferguson, as a piper in the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, Edinburgh, Scotland.

Piped-in the Lieutenant-Governor of Ontario, James Bartleman at the Lieutenant-Governor's New Years Day Levee, 1 Jan 2005, Thunder Bay, Ontario


 Worked from 1995 to 2002 in Regimental Quartermaster Stores with the Lake Superior Scottish Regiment, fitting members with kilts, ordering and maintaining kilts and other Scottish Regalia.


Honours and Awards

Accepted for the British Army Pipe Major's Course, Edinburgh, Scotland however was unable to attend due to service reasons

Received the First Clasp to the Canadian Forces Decoration for 22 years of service in the Canadian Forces - 30 May 2015

February 2011 to present - Tuition from Mr Murray Henderson, Kirriemuir, Scotland for piobaireachd and light music.


Murray is an acclaimed solo piper, past 4 time winner of the Glenfiddich Solo Piping Competition, 6 time winner of the Clasp to the Gold Medal at Inverness, Scotland, winner of the Senior Piobaireachd at Oban.


Fall 2001 to 2010 - Under tuition from Mr Jack Lee of Surrey, BC for piobaireachd and light music.


Jack is Pipe Sergeant of the 6 time World Champion Simon Fraser University Pipe Band, an acclaimed solo piper, a past Glenfiddich Solo Piping Competition Champion, 2 time winner of the Clasp at Inverness, Scotland, Senior Piobaireachd at Oban and 3 time winner of the Silver Star Former Winners March, Strathspey and Reel event at Inverness.

June 2014 - 
Attended the Balmoral School of Piping in Delafield, Wisconsin.

June 2013 - Attended the Balmoral School of Piping in Minneapolis/St Paul, Minnesota.

February 2005, 2009, 2010 and 2013 - Attended the Celtic Arts Foundation/Mastery of Scottish Arts Winter School in Seattle, Washington.

June 2001 Completed QL4 Musician 871 (Piper) Qualification at Music Training Company, Canadian Forces School of Administration and Logistics, CFB Borden ON.

August 1997 Began piobaireachd instruction from Pipe Major Kenneth MacLeod, ex-Lovat Scouts (Territorial Army).

 March 1997 Completed QL3 Musician 871 (Piper) Qualification at the Canadian Forces Music Center- Borden Detachment.

February 1997 - Attended a National Pipes and Drums Seminar at the Canadian Forces Music Centre with guest lecturers Pipe Major Alasdair Gillies and Drum Major Neil Nairne from the Scottish Division Music Depot, Milton Bridge, Scotland, CFB Borden, ON, February 24 - 28, 1997.

January 1995  - Light music instruction from Pipe Major Alister R. MacDonald, former PM of The Pipes and Drums of Thunder Bay.

January 1993 - Started learning under Pipe Major Eric Johnson of the Lake Superior Scottish Regiment.
