I have one of the best collections of Optical illusions I have seen on the net! Optical illusions are interesting to me, and I think you will like them too! Caution you will be AMAZED!!!!
I have arranged them into catigories for your convenience.
Here are the illusions:
Category 1:Ambiguous figures
Category 2:Which line's longer
Category 3:Camouflage
Category 4:Invisible objects
Category 5:Line illusions
Category 6:Poggendorff illusions
Category 7:Spiral illusions
Category 8:Vases or faces
Category 9:Fuzzy intersections
Category 10:Impossible figures
Category 11:Other
This image is what is called an ambiguous figure because there are more than one interpretaton on what the picture accually is.
Click on the image to se more ambiguous figures.
Do the two vertical lines in this illusion appear to be equal in length? Well they are! If my word is not good enough for you, I want you to go and get a ruler and check for yourself! They are exactly the same size!
You can probably tell why I named this category "Which line's longer". Although this isn't exactly the prettiest picture I could have picked for this page, so click on it to see more (better ones) that are like this. There are also pictures of circles, so the title of this category could be a little decieving.
Can you see the dalmation? It's hard to because it blends in with the background (it is camouflaged).
This dalmation is the only drawn picture that I have for this category. I do have two others that are real pictures from real life. Click the dalmation to see the other two.
When you look at this, you probably see a triangle. There is not one there! The way the circle parts are cut out, make us think there is a triangle there eventhough there is not one!
These illusions are great, they trick our brain into thinking that there are invisible objects. I even have one that creates a cube, so check it out.
Do you see some squares or rectangles? Really, this is nothing more than a bunch of lines going in every which direction, but the way our mind interprets these lines are totally different!!
Click on the picture to see more illusions with lines.
That line you see is actually one line that goes straight through the block.
The line looks like two because of the Poggendorff illusion, if you click on the picture you will see a picture with the Poggendorff illusion more clearly.
Just stare at center of this illusion for several seconds, be relaxed, and try not to blink if possible.....if you are not careful, your ENTIRE WORLD might start moving!
Don't say I didn't warn you!!!
These spirals realy mess you up. I have two others that look like spirals but are not, they really can get you.
This is another famous illusion! At first glance, tell me what you see! Do you see a vase? Or do you see something more. Look Closely!!!!
These illusions are pretty cool, I could have put them with the ambiguous figures but I thought they should be in a category all their own.
When you first look at this illusion, does there appear to be fuzz where the white lines intersect? There is nothing there! Now, I want you to get two sheets of paper. Then I want you to cover the entire grid except for four black boxes, and one intersection (helps if you do this in a corner of the grid). Now, where did the fuzz go?
This is my favorite category of illusions, you can probably see why. With these illusions there is no possible way to create them (or maybe there is).
This is the categor I have the most images of and I think you will like these too.
This is a very wierd illusion. If you slowly scroll this window while looking at the ball it looks like it is accualy rolling
This is the "other" category because these illusions didn't realy go with the other ones.
Hope you liked them, I will soon add more!
