Favorite Carole movie: Made For Each Other (1939) and My Man Godfrey (1936)

I've lived by a man's code designed to fit a man's world, yet at the same time I never forget that a woman's first job is to choose the right shade of lipstick.~Carole

'The Queen of Screwball Comedy' she was called. Carole made people laugh all through the 1930s in movies like My Man Godfrey and Nothing Sacred. She was born on October 6th 1908 and made her film debut in 1921 in a film called A Perfect Crime. She made her way all through the silent film area and appeared on the other side in screwball comedies.

Another thing she is probably famous for is being the wife of actor Clark Gable. Carole was previously married to actor William Powell from 1931 to 1933. She married Gable in 1939 and was married to him until her death in 1942. Although she and Powell were divorced they starred in the film My Man Godfrey together. Carole also said about William Powell: "Bill Powell is the only intelligent actor I've ever met."

Unfortunately, Carole's life came to an untimely end. She was killed in a plane crash in Nevada on January 16th 1942.
