This is yet another work of Gauguin. It is a prime example of symbolism. One predominant symbol in this work is the dark figure in the back. Although the figure is in the back, it is a very moody symbol. Its a dark figure and its wearing dark. A definate sign of despair or death is dark colors, which are very visible in this page.
