Outta My Head

Editorial #3 - "The System Can Crash if You're Not Careful"

One thing I'm still learning as Editor-in-Chief is to never take things for granted.

That was proven rather abruptly the other day when I had made plans to finish one of the stories I was working on for the July release, and my home PC crashed. It's an archaic Windows 95 computer that was on its last legs anyway, but I figured I could squeeze just a little bit more out of it. But alas, it died, requiring a system disk I don't have and can't acquire anywhere locally. And I had saved most of the story on the computer rather than back it up elsewhere. This isn't the first time this has happened; one would think I'd have learned my lesson by now, but so far, no such luck. So now I'm searching on eBay....

But fear not, fair readers, we still plan to release the next batch of issues on the 14th and 28th of this month; we'll just have to work harder (or at least I will). And if we don't quite make it in time, feel free to flog us. No, just kidding; we hope you'll be understanding. Quite a bit happens in a short time during the running of a fanfiction group. I mean, so far we've gained writers and editors, lost writers and editors, suffered setbacks like technical glitches and series being postponed due to lack of writer, etc. That 2099 UnderGround Revised has made it this far is nothing short of astounding. It means we're probably masochists.

Hmm... just think of the kinds of setbacks people in 2099 would have to deal with....
