World Yee Family Association Heads Visit San Francisco

Dateline San Francisco  U.S. Yee Fung Toy Association hosted a dinner and reception on June 3rd, 2001 at the New Asia Restaurant for visiting World Yee Family Association Grand President Johnson Yee from Hong Kong, and World Grand Vice President John M. Yee visiting from Phoenix, and their spouses.

Last November the Yee Family Association of Hong Kong, the Five Tong Association of the Yee Fung Toy Association got together and jointly hosted the first ever World Convention of the Yees.  The convention also commemorated the 1000th birthday of our common supreme ancestor Yee Chung Sheung.  This grand gathering brought together delegates from all over south China, including Shaoguan, Taishan (Toisan), and Kaiping (Hoiping).  It inspired in overseas Yees a sense of reverence for our ancestors, a feeling of patriotism, and an enthusiasm to join hands to work for the betterment of all the Yees of the world.

In a series of earnest and far ranging discussions, the  convention delegates drew up a draft constitution and elected Johnson Yee as Grand President and John M. Yee as Grand Vice President.  Many regional executives were also elected.  This core leadership will spearhead efforts to bring awareness and promote worldwide support among the Yees for this fledgling organization.

At the San Francisco reception, the visitors and hosts exchanged gifts, and local elected officials including Supervisor Leland Yee honored them with Proclamations.  Elders of the San Francisco Yee Fung Toy Association presented the visitors with plaques in memory of the occasion.

The Second Yee Family World Convention is planned for the year 2003.  It is expected that Yees from even more countries and regions around the world will send delegates, bringing unity and increased benefits to Yees worldwide.
