Annual Spring Banquet Filled with Joy and Harmony

 Dateline Phoenix  A crowd of over 400 thronged the China Doll Restaurant for the Yee Fung Toy  Spring Banquet on March 3rd, 2001.  Earlier on the same day at noon a worship service for Yee ancestors was conducted at the Association Building in a simple yet dignified ceremony.

The evening program was conducted in English (Jeanette Hing), Toisanese (Jack Yee) and Cantonese (Ched Yu).  After a welcoming speech by President Willie Yee, wishing everyone happiness, good health, and prosperity for the coming year, the Moo Kai Scholarships were awarded to four college bound high school seniors.  They are:

1 Cindy Yee, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Ames Yee, .

2. Andy Chang, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Chang,

3. John Yee, son of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Yee, and

4. Scott Gong, son of Mrs. And Mrs. Wee Yeung Gong.

In addition, many Hong Kong Five Tong Scholarship grants were awarded to students in more junior grades.

Master of Ceremonies Ched Yu introduced the current Association Officers, and Elders and Senior Officers offered toasts to the crowd.  The sound of Chinese popular music, sung solo or in groups,  filled the air as entertainment was provided by four local vocal talents, all Karaoke champions.  The sweet music was still resonating in their ears as the audience finished their desserts and departed for the evening.
