i found a nice source of photos for my web pages or for making tshirts at the phoenix library. at least if you want photos that have been in the news.

the library subscribes to the AP photo service which looks like its gotten off the internet but you can use it from any of their terminals that allow you to view the card catalogs and other things.

you enter one or more key words and it fetches photos that match them. i entered mustangs and running horses to get some photos of running mustangs to add to the western libertarian alliance t-shirt. it returned around 100 photos of mustangs of which maybe 6 would look good on a tshirt.

you can copy the photos to a floppy disk which i did.

the only failure i had was in my search for larry naman (he is the guy with the lousy aim who put a bullet in the butt of maricopa county supervisor mary rose willox who voted for bank1 ballpark). at the convention we were talking about making a larry naman t-shirt.

the service pulled up a large number of photos about tim mcveigh and the oklahoma bombing. i also did searches for the unabomber, hitler, stalin, american atheist founder marylin madilin ohare all which returned a good number of well know photos about these people which i copied to my floppy disk. i think the services has photos going back to the 1800.
