Do some research on what the fire department has to say about speed bumps. Tell your neighbors that their speed bumps may cost them their lives someday if it means an extra few seconds for the ambulance to arrive.

Circles are inefficient and very dangerous if not done very large, as in Europe. The large ones may actually improve traffic flow, but small ones take away the advantage of allowing traffic to merge instead of cross. This is very dangerous. There was one at a busy intersection near where I grew up. (if you want to research it, it was in Des Plaines, Illlinois, at the intersection of Wolf Rd. And State Rte 58, Golf Rd.). That intersection as by far the highest accident rate in the town. I was in court once for a ticket elsewhere in town, and the Judge asked for any cases invovling that intersection first, then summarily dismissed them on the grounds that if he couldn't figure out how to get through there properly, no one else should have to either.

Yup. You don't have to regularly deal with the ones in other neighborhoods (until they start putting them on speedway, that is), but the local ones will mess with you every day. Ask the neighbors to demand from the city their share of the money that would go to the construction, then just distribute it among the neighbors as a tax refund.
