Charlie Batch, Lions make the Patriots pay in a 34-9 win.

New England's defense batters Batch, but he keeps getting up, making plays. Batch connects with David Sloan on a 1-yard TD pass on 4th down to grab the lead 13-9 despite being leveled by Chris Slade. Batch gets laid out and knocked out on a drive that leads to James Stewart's 1-yard TD run for a 20-9 lead at the start of the 4th quarter.

Batch, who goes 16-of-24 for 194 yards, adds a 10-yard TD run extending the lead, then Bryant Westbrook returns an INT of Drew Bledsoe 101 yards to finish off the Patriots.

Tom Brady makes his NFL debut, relieving Bledsoe, and going 1-of-3 for 6 yards.
