Hakkinen makes a strong start, and teammate David Coulthard also gets the jump on Ferrari, which sees BAR-Honda's Jacques Villeneuve slip ahead of Michael Schumacher and Eddie Irvine.

Schumacher eventually battles back to 3rd, but the Ferraris are no match for the Mclarens.
