Raikkonen wins the inaugural race in Budapest, leading from the start in his Mclaren, as Renault's Alonso finishes second after passing Raikkonen's teammate Juan Pablo Montoya. Raikkonen's victory shrinks Alonso's lead by 2 more points, to 24 points.

Renault's Giancarlo Fisichella finishes in 4th, helping to minimize Mclaren's points gain. However, Renault's lead is now just 9 points, 130-121 with 5 races remaining.
