A qualifying gaffe/failed trick by Michael Schumacher, moves his starting position to the back of the grid and he never challenge with his Ferrari. Alonso battles Mclaren's Kimi Raikkonen for the lead before Raikkonen's car fails opening the way for Alonso to capture the win for Renault.

Mclaren's Juan Pablo Montoya claims 2nd, while David Coulthard surprises with a 3rd place podium finish for Red Bull Racing.
