Alonso starts his Renault at 15th on the grid due to a mechanic problem in qualifying, but moves up with the aid of an early safety car and then moves to the front for his 20th career victory.

Second generation driver, Nico Rosberg, son of former champ Kiki Rosberg, takes his 1st ever podium bringing his Williams in 2nd place.
