Game Notes

Bears trip up the Hokies in the end 52-49.

Cal wins it on Tyler Frederickson's 35-yard FG on the final play after the Hokies rally from 14 points down in the 4th quarter twice, despite missing all 3 FG attempts in the game. The Bears had scored 28 straight points to take a 42-28 lead after Virginia Tech controls much of the 1st half.

However, the Hokies strike quickly after trailing 49-35 in the 4th quarter. Bryan Randall hits Chris Shreve with a 28-yard TD pass with 4:28 left in the game, and then DeAngelo Hall returns a punt 52 yards after stopping the Bears on the following series.

Randall goes 24-of-34 for 398 yards and 4 TDs, while Kevin Jones rushes for 153 yards and 1 TD. Cal answers with Aaron Rodgers' 394 yards and 2 TD passes, in addition to a pair of TD runs.
