#4 Hurricanes collapse defensively suffering perhaps their worst loss in 20+ years, falling to the Tar Heels 31-28.

North Carolina enters with a losing record and minus its top 2 RBs, and yet manages to control the ball for almost 37 minutes, rolling up 545 yards, including 279 on the ground, as Miami's defense is non-existent. Connor Barth's 42-yard FG on the final play is the finishing touch on the Hurricanes' embarrassment.

Tar Heels' backup RB Chad Scott gouges Miami's defense for 175 yards and 2 RDs rushing. Despite it all, the Hurricanes draw even with 2:25 remaining on Devin Hester's 11-yard TD run. But the defense is unable to stop North Carolina on the ensuing possession.
