DeAngelo Williams caps his college career in starring fashion as the Tigers beat the Zips 38-31.

Williams, Memphis ruin Akron's bowl debut, holding off a pair of 4th quarter rallies. Williams runs for 233 yards and 3 TDs, establishing a new college record with his 34th 100-yard game, ending up 4th in history w/ 6,021 all-purpose yards.

Williams punches in a pair of short TDs to go with 2 FGs by Stephen Gostkowski to give Memphis a 20-3 lead late in the 3rd quarter.

However, Akron cuts it to 23-17 w/ 11:03 in the game after Luke Getsy hits Jabari Arthur for a 46-yard TD and Brett Biggs for a 72-yard TD.

Williams answers with his 3rd TD and Earnest Williams also adds a 5-yard TD stretching the Tigers' lead to 38-17 w/ 3:09 left in the game.

Getsy, who finishes with 455 yards, responds with his 3rd and 4th TD passes of the game, the last a 19-yarder to Arthur cuts it to 38-31 w/ :55 left in the game. But Akron was unable to recover the onside kick. Arthur has 8 catches for 180 yards.
