Cedric Humes runs for 113 yards and 3 TDs, and Brandon Ore adds 115 yards and 2 TDs. Virginia Tech controls the game with its running game, and breaks it open with 3 turnovers that the Hokies convert into 3 TDs. The big turnover comes with Virginia Tech leading 10-0 in the second quarter, and Roland Minor recovers a muffed punt at the 1-yard line setting up Humes' 1st TD run.

The Hokies add another TD before halftime, and then after Wali Lundy's 9-yard TD early in the 3rd quarter offers hope for a Virginia rally, Ore and Humes add a pair of TDs before the quarter can end.
