#9 Hokies score an emotional, if sloppy win in a 17-7 victory over the Pirates, in the 1st game since the April 16th killing spree shattered the Blacksburg campus.

Virginia Tech suffers 3 turnovers, 4 sacks, manages just 33 yards rushing, but salvages the outcome with the help of a critical return and a 4th quarter TD pass by Sean Glennon to secure the emotional win.

With East Carolina leading 7-3 on Chris Johnson's 2-yard TD run, Tech retakes the lead when Victor Harris picks backup QB Brett Clay and returns it 17 yards for a TD with 3:07 left in the 1st half. Glennon finally gets the Hokies' offense into the end zone in the 4th quarter, connecting with Sam Wheeler for a 21-yard TD pass.
