Game Notes
Red Raiders rally by the #20 Cavaliers for 31-28 win.
A year after coming back from a 31-point deficit to win its bowl game, Texas Tech erases a 28-14 deficit in the 4th quarter, taking the lead when Alex Trlica nails a 41-yard FG w/ :02 left in the game.
Graham Harrell throws for 407 yards and 3 TDs, though it takes 69 attempts, so the achievements barely qualify as achievements. Harrell's 20-yard TD pass to Michael Crabtree starts the rally w/ 3:31 left in the game, then Aaron Crawford scores on a 4-yard run 1 play after Virginia fumbles on the next play.
The rally overshadows Mikell Simpson's performance. Simpson rushes for 170 yards, including a bowl-record 96-yard TD run that gives the Cavaliers a 16-7 lead in the 2nd quarter.
