Freshman Darren Evans rushes for a Virginia Tech-record 253 yards and 1 TD as the Hokies hammer Maryland on the ground. Virginia Tech outgains the Terps 273 to minus-12 rushing.

Sean Glennon hits Greg Boone with a 5-yard TD in the 1st quarter and then Evans adds a 1-yard TD run in the 2nd opening a 14-3 lead. Maryland rallies in the 3rd quarter, highlighted by Chris Turner's 63-yard TD pass to Darrius Heyward-Bey, closing to within 20-13, but the rally doesn't extend to the 4th quarter.
