Games Notes

Tar Heels rally for a rare win over the Tigers, 21-20.

William Humes overcomes 3 fumbles to provide the winning score with a 1-yard TD plunge w/ :10 left in the game as North Carolina beats Clemson in Chapel Hill for the 1st time since 1971. The Tar Heels produce the winning drive immediately after David Treadwell's 30-yard FG extends the lead to 20-14 for Clemson with 4:19 to play.

The Tigers had controlled much of the 2nd half. Trailing 7-3 as Humes' 36-yard TD run in the 2nd quarter helped North Carolina take control, Clemson's running game takes over in the 2nd half. Kenny Flowers puts the Tigers up 10-7 with a 11-yard TD run late in the 3rd quarter. Then Stacy Driver connects with Terrance Roulhac on a 57-yard TD pass on the halfback pass.

The Tar Heels answer, cutting it to 17-14 on Jonathan Hall's 3-yard TD pass to Arnold Franklin.
