#2 Hurricanes overcome loss of Craig Erickson, to turn back the Spartans for a 26-20 victory.

Erickson breaks a bone in his throwing hand in the first half, but Gino Torretta steps in, while the Miami defense dominates. Carlos Huerta kicks 4 FGs buoying the Canes' offense.

Dan Enos scores on a 19-yard rollout to give Michigan State a 10-3 lead w/ 5:32 left in the 2nd quarter. But Torretta goes 5-for-5 on a scoring drive, capping it with a 5-yard TD pass to Wesley Carroll tying it 10-10, 2:14 before the half.

Alex Johnson's 38-yard TD run and Huerta's 27-yard FG following a blocked punt by Darrin Smith, put Miami up 20-10 w/ 6:42 left in the 3rd quarter. Michigan State rallies, tying it on Harlon Barnett's 34-yard return of an INT in the 4th quarter.

But then Huerta hits a 45-yard FG, followed by a 52-yarder late in the 4th quarter to capture the win.
