Game Notes

Demon Deacons overcome many mistakes to rally past the Ducks 39-35 in Bill Dooley's final game.

Wake Forest turns it over 6 times in 2 1/2 quarters, digging a 29-10 hole. Herman O'Berry returns a fumble 24 yards for a TD, and Alex Molden's 8-yard INT return in the 3rd quarter puts Oregon up 29-10. However, the Ducks only convert 19 points off the mistakes, keeping Wake Forest within striking distance.

And the Deacons strike back. Todd Dixon begins beating the Oregon secondary, one reception sets up Ned Moultrie's 1-yard TD run, then Dixon hauls in a 30-yard TD pass from Keith West to pull Wake within 29-24 at the end of the 3rd quarter. Then Dixon adds a 61-yard TD pass from fellow wide receiver Bobby Jones early in the 4th quarter. John Leach extends the lead with a 6-yard TD run.

Dixon has 5 catches for 166 yards and 2 TDs, while Leach runs for 123 yards and 2 TDs. West goes 15-of-27 for 262 yards and 1 TD with 3 INTs. Oregon's Danny O'Neil is 24-of-40 for 227 yards and 2 TDs.
