New England stops Indianapolis 4 times from the 1-yard line to preserve the win, the final stop coming with 14 seconds remaining. The Patriots had withstood 2 rallies by the Colts. New England jumped out to a 17-0 lead before Indianapolis pulls to within 17-10, but Bethel Johnson returns a kickoff 87 yards for a score on the final play of the 1st half restoring the Patriots control of the game.

After New England stretches the lead to 31-10 in the 3rd quarter, Indianapolis storms back, evening the game with 3 TD passes by Peyton Manning. The Patriots go ahead again on Tom Brady's 13-yard TD pass to Deion Branch.

Brady throws for 236 yards and 2 TDs, while Manning passes for 278 yards and 4 TDs.
