Dolphins leave Chargers stunned 23-21.

Miami pulls the big upset in San Diego as the Dolphins convert on their chances. After cutting the Chargers' lead to 7-6 in the 2nd quarter, the Dolphins recover Derrick Sproles' fumble on the ensuing kickoff. Miami converts the turnover into a 8-yard TD pass from Gus Frerotte to Chris Chambers and a 13-7 lead.

Frerotte connects with Chambers on a 35-yard TD pass to open a 20-7 lead in the 3rd quarter, then Miami adds a 20-yard FG by Olindo Mare after Yeremiah Bell sacks Drew Brees, forcing a fumble. Mare's FG gives Miami a 23-14 lead with just 1:14 remaining.

Chambers has 8 catches for 121 yards, while Frerotte throws for 229 yards. Brees puts it up 52 times, completing 35 for 279 yards and 2 TDs. Antonio Gates catches 13 for 123 yards and 1 TD.
