Dallas @ Miami

Network: CBS
Announcers: Pat Summerall, Tom Brookshier
Format: DVD (3 disks)
Quality: 8.5
Notes: Master was the stadium feed, so there are no commercials or halftime, you can hear the announcers talking during where the commercials would be... Some pretty minor dropped frame/pausing effect... 1st and 3rd reels (disks) grade around 8.75 or 9.0, with the 2nd reel having some brief tracking and blue screen issues, lowering the overall grade... For the most part very minor, and very good quality for its age with some interesting insights by Summerall and Brookshier during the breaks.

Game Notes

Dolphins jump on Cowboys early, then hold on for a 23-16 win.

Miami basically kicks Dallas' rear about as completely as possible in the 1st quarter, opening a 17-0 lead, and maintaining the control into the 2nd half. Norm Bulaich scores on a 1-yard run, capping the Dolphins' opening drive. Then Delvin Williams follows with a 1-yard TD run after Tony Dorsett fumbles on the Cowboys' 2nd play.

Garo Yepremian hits a 45-yard FG, the 1st of his 3, with :14 left in the 1st quarter. Dallas finally answers with a 30-yard FG by Rafael Septien, and then avoids a knockout blow by forcing another Yepremian FG just before halftime, following the Cowboys' 3rd turnover of the half.

Dallas closes with 2 FGs by Septien in the 3rd quarter, and following Yepremian's 4th FG, Roger Staubach pulls the Cowboys to within 23-16 on a 9-yard TD pass to Billy Joe Dupree w/ 4:44 left. However, Norris Thomas and Charlie Babb stop 2 final drives with the 4th and 5th turnovers by Dallas.
