Game Notes

Dolphins end the Bears' unbeaten run with a 38-24 win on MNF.

Miami retains its claim to the only perfect season in the Super Bowl era by stunning Chicago's vaunted defense, denying the Bears a 13-0 start. Dan Marino throws a pair of TD passes in the 1st half along with 2 TD runs by Ron Davenport as Miami surprises Chicago with a 31-10 halftime lead.

After Chicago answers Marino's 33-yard TD strike to Nat Moore, the Dolphins extend the lead to 17-7 on Davenport's 1st 1-yard TD run. Davenport's next one makes it 24-10, and then Marino connects with Moore again for a 6-yard TD pass. Marino finishes 14-of-27 for 270 yards and 3 TDs.

The Bears close to 14 twice in the 2nd half but the Dolphins answer with a 42-yard TD pass from Marino to Clayton off a deflection and then by blanking Chicago for the 4th quarter.

The Bears manage a late highlight when Walter Payton runs twice on Chicago's final possession in the final minute to surpass the 100-yard mark for the 8th consecutive game, setting a new NFL record.
