Game Notes

Broncos end the Patriots run with a 27-13 win.

New England's 10-game playoff winning streak is snapped as mistakes and misfortune go against the Patriots this time. A critical pass interference call sets up Mike Anderson's 1-yard TD run w/ 1:42 left in the first half. Then kickoff man Todd Sauerbrun forces a fumble on the ensuing kickoff setting up a 50-yard FG by Jason Elam, providing a big swing late in the first half.

After the Patriots close it to 10-6, New England appears poised to take control of the game, driving deep into Denver territory. But then Champ Bailey intercepts Tom Brady's pass into the end zone. Bailey returns it 100 yards before being pushed out at the 1. The turnover sets up Anderson's 2nd TD, and instead of falling behind, the Broncos now own a 17-6 lead.

Jake Plummer pads the lead with a 4-yard TD pass to Rod Smith in the 4th quarter. Smith finishes with 5 catches for 96 yards, while Plummer goes 15-of-26 for 197 yards, 1 TD and 1 INT.

Brady tries to rally the Patriots, finishing with 341 yards and a 4-yard TD pass to David Givens. But New England can get no closer and Brady's 2nd interception seals the Patriots' fate.
