Game Notes

No more next year for the Cowboys, as Dallas finally wins it all, 24-3 over the Dolphins.

The Cowboys break free of their perennial runner-up status, as defense stops Miami and Duane Thomas, Walt Garrison and Calvin Hill carry the attack for Dallas. The Cowboys roll up a Super Bowl-record 252 yards rushing while limiting the Dolphins to 185 total yards.

Chuck Howley leads the Dallas defense, contributing a fumble recovery to set up Mike Clark's 9-yard FG for the first score, and an interception that helps seal the game. Roger Staubach hits Lance Alworth for a 7-yard TD pass late in the 1st half. However, Miami responds for its only points on a 31-yard FG by Garo Yepremian w/ :04 left in the half.

The Cowboys re-affirm their control with a 71-yard drive to start the 2nd half, capped off by Thomas' 3-yard TD run. Thomas finishes with 95 yards, while Garrison adds 74 yards. Staubach delivers the final blow with a 7-yard TD pass to Mike Ditka in the 4th quarter.
